JulykicksoffwithBeaumontTriathloninsupportofCNIBAlbertaandNorthwest

EDMONTONOnJuly1,2014,athleteswillbeswimming,bikingandrunningatthe
BeaumontTriathloninsupportofCNIBAlbertaandNorthwestTerritories.Eachyear,
morethan12,000Albertanswhoareblindorpartiallysightedaccessessential
programsandservicesthathelpthemseebeyondvisionloss.Raceparticipantshave
theopportunitytoseekpledgesfromfriendsandfamily.
Theeventwillfeaturetriathleteswhoareblindorpartiallysighted.Oneteamin
particular,theGoldenGirls,iscomprisedofVivianeForestandCarrieAnton,two
Paralympicgoldmedalists,andDianeBergeron,CNIBsnationaldirectorofgovernment
relationsandadvocacy.
"NomatterhowIdo,Illcrossthefinishlinewithasmileonmyfaceandanother
triathloninmyblood,Dianecommented.Sheisblindandhasbeencompetinginraces
andhalfironmancompetitionsfortwoyears.
Communitysupportisvitaltoourorganizationssuccess,saidJohnMcDonald,
executivedirectorandregionalvicepresidentforCNIBAlbertaandNorthwest
Territories.Wegreatlyappreciatethesupportreceivedfromparticipatingathletesand
theirpledgesofsupport.
