The line graph illustrates changes and differences in the percentage of unemployment in United

States and Japan during six years. It is measured by rate of work force. In general, the proportion
of unemployment in the US tends to decrease over these years while the unemployment rate in
Japan increases.
To be more specific, in Japan, the percentage of unemployment levels out at 2.5% in February
1993, then increasing significant to 3.7% in March 1994. During the time, in US, it is a levelling
out at 7.0% in 1993, after going down exactly to 6.5% in Mar 1994.
In the following year, it fluctuates ranging from 3.6% to 3.8% in Japan, after one year, it has a
sharp and quick growth to 4.4%. In US, it still dips to 5.5% before fluctuating narrowly around
5.7% in 1996.
In 1997, the number in Japan shows that it nearly equal with the data in 1996, then it continues
soaring and plateaued at 5.2% in May 1998, before declining nearly a half (4.9%) in 1999. From
1997 to 1999, the research documents that the unemployment proportion in US just fluctuates
around a half (5.0%).
