We had two situations which were notable. Both of these occurred as we were drafting the group cooperation agreement. The first involved the space and opportunity given to individuals to express their opinions. We noticed two different groups of people in this regard: some who were “larger, more dominating” personalities and others more shy, less assertive personalities who struggled to find the opportunity to voice their thoughts. Each group member was able to self-reflect to figure out in which category they fit, and adjust accordingly. We noticed that half the table comprised more dominant personalities and the other half less assertive ones. We suggested a corrective action which was to shift the order of the table in future group meetings to mix different personalities and have them sit next to each other. Also the more dominating members could give more space for others to speak and actively ask for other’s opinions while the less assertive ones could take more initiative.
