Toshiba could have avoided defeat if:


Toshiba must create a strategic alliance with Samsung Electronics Corp.,
because this company had the necessary technology to improve image quality
of the HD DVD, and in this way produce new drives. Some of the costumer
described the HD DVD as "a very expensive device to play standard DVDs."
For many of its partners as Universal pictures, paramount and Dreamworks was
important that the HD-DVD can be able to adapted to the duration of its
movies, Toshiba should be capable of holding 50 GB as well as the Blu-Ray
Toshiba should increase its retail presence in many markets (Wal-Mart,
Toshiba had to do a market survey to know the current consumer preferences,
because many people compared the product with the old VHS version, so it did
not seem a very innovative product
