Scope: Find the forces and stresses in a cantilever beam as per the given data.

1. Open ANSYS + CivilFEM.
2. Activate CivilFEM in the ANSYS Main Menu.

3. Change the Job Name as Cantilever Beam (File > Change Jobname).

4. Set the Length and Force units to Meter and KiloNewton (Civil Preprocessor > Civil Setup).

5. Set the element type as 2D Elast Beam 3 (Civil Preprocessor > Element Types > Civil Beams).

6. Set the material as M25 Concrete (Civil Preprocessor > Material > New).

7. Crete a cross section as per the given dimension (Civil Preprocessor > Cross Section >
Concrete).

8. Create a beam with the following properties (Civil Preprocessor > Beam & Shell Properties >
New Beam)
Number = 1
Name = Beam
Ename = beam 3
Offset = COG
Cross Section = 1

9. Check the Real Constants also.

10. Create two nodes which represents the beam end points as follows (Preprocessor >
Modeling > Create > Nodes > In Active CS).
Start Point Node number = 1; X, Y, Z = 0, 0, 0
End Point Node number = 11; X, Y, Z = 3, 0, 0

11. Create in between nodes (Preprocessor > Modeling > Create > Nodes > Fill between Nds).

13. Create a element which connects nodes 1 and 2 (Preprocessor > Modeling > Create >
Elements > Auto Numbered > Thru Nodes).

14. Copy the created element to complete the entire beam (Preprocessor > Modeling > Copy >
Elements > Auto Numbered).

15. Assign fixed support at the node 1 (Preprocessor > Loads > Define Loads > Apply > Structural
> Displacement > On Nodes).

16. Assign the 5 Kn load at the free end (Preprocessor > Loads > Define Loads > Apply >
Structural > Force / Moment > On Nodes).

17. Solve the problem (Solution > Solve > Current LS).
18. Set the load step to check the results (Civil Postprocessor > Read Results > By Load Step).
