In selecting our topic, we decided to find something that the both of us were

interested in. Our shared fascination with modern art led us to the idea of Cubism. This
new art form was revolutionary in shaping the world of modern art, influencing new art
forms to follow.
We experienced no trouble in finding an abundance of primary as well as
secondary sources on Picasso, Braque and other artists who were influenced by this
iconic movement. These sources aided us in developing a clear idea and understanding
of what this movement truly had to offer. Many of their works were posted to the internet
from museums such as the Museum of Modern Art as well as the Metropolitan Museum
of Art. As our research progressed we were astonished by the impact that that Cubism
had on the art world. With our multitude of sources, we selected the ones we found
most relevant to include in our bibliography.
During the initial agreement of the two of us working together, we knew we
wanted to compete in the website category. In our previous years of history fair, neither
of us had competed in the website division so we felt that this was the year to change
that. We felt that by presenting a website would be the best possible way to depict the
true essence of the Cubism movement. In regards to the construction of the website,
we first made sure we met all of our needed requirements. We then added our favorite
pieces from various artists that matched the theme of our website and what we found to
be aesthetically pleasing. Separating our works by their style shows the progression
from the beginning of the Cubism movement to its inspiration in other pieces.
Exploration, Encounter and Exchange was the theme that we were given to
work with. Our main focus of the three was exploration. Picasso and Braque were two
central characters who explored the Cubism movement. Through their exploration of this
new art style, the world of modern art was changed forever.
