SLIDE 3 ----- Since tariffs between the US and the EU are already very low
on average import duties amount to 3% up to 4% it is more important for
TAFTA to remove trade tariff barrier and the obstacle to export product
such as the quality standard, labelling requirement and etc so that it will
increase trade and boost investment for the US and EU.
And according to the study conducted by CEPR 2013, TAFTA/TTIP will increase EU
export for EUR 159 billion and EU imports also increase by EUR 159 billion, thus
will increase EU and US global competitiveness in the world
SLIDE 4 ------ By using the combined leverage of their consumer markets,
the US and the EU try to make this agreement as a global regulatory
blueprint for future trade deals all over the world.
The arguments apply even more from a US-perspective because TTP
combine with TTIP will compromise more than 50% of world trade.
TAFTA/TTIP would also trigger a new wave of bilateral trade agreements
by countries outside the project trying to avoid exclusion and they also have
to adopt TAFTA in order to stay in competition.

subjects such as:
Legal protection, Environment, Human rights and etc.
For example, in the labor and human rights. TAFTA | TTIP is sold to the general
public as an engine for job creation. However, existing free trade agreements
such as the NAFTA had showed opposite effect.
High consumer and health standard where for example food product in the US
uses genetically modified products and EU dont use this product
This sensitive subject has a potential for deep conflicts of interest which
may provoke public protests and can increase the intensity of social
conflicts within the US and EU.
SLIDE 7 ------ With this TAFTA/TTIP negotiation, several problem arising to the
relation with 3rd countries that not included in the agreement. Each EU and US
have their own approach when concluding such agreement. For example,
US require their FTA partners to implement WTO commitments and respective
regulation while EU propose their trade partner to implement DCFTA in order to
maintain their trade relation.
This situation leads to a bigger problem such as some of the US product cant be
exported to EU trade patner countries because of different regulatory
approach for example to some countries such as Georgia, Malta, Moldova and
etc in order to maintain this country trade relation with EU.
