SWOT Analysis for Final Product

Idea 1:

Upgrading current wind tunnel to include a 3d matrix field and high capacity sensors
measuring lift/drag and wind speed to calculate equations and create a program that
simulates this on the phone, connects via Bluetooth.

S- Has functionality above any other product. There exists no such product in the market as
the data collection is done on a smaller scale than industry standard but is still perfect for
individual home consumers.

W- Extremely complicated and is a long winded project that could potentially take upwards
of a year of dedicated time to develop and completely finish. There are also many possible
points of fracture.

O- Nothing like this exists, so if a working model is developed, it can be improved upon and
sold to consumers in the education industry and for home geeks.

T- The complex nature of the system and the usual scenario of IOT causes there to always be
a major obstacle in getting all parts to connect simultaneously and work in coherence.

Q- How to capture the 3d location of objects and compare how they change over time as
well as capturing the air speed to compare differences over time. How to fit in a tiny
enclosure while getting accurate data. How to add controlled airflow to the system.

Idea 2:

Build a smaller wind turbine and analyze the effects of different blade sizes and shaped

S- The product would be small and can easily be manipulated in order to compare multiple
at the same time. Easy to test with a simple mustimeter and a generator to see how much
voltage is produced. Can be taken a step further to store energy in a battery for future use.

W- Can be hard to work with as it would be on a small scale and prone to error. Getting
everything to fit in a small enclosure can be a challenge.

O- Can create a little wind farm of 4 or 5 and can be used as an education tool. Can use help
from a professor who focuses on wind turbines to look at how a single source of air effects
the flow of air behind the turbines and look at the wake principles.

T- Since it is on such a small scale, wake effects can be multiplied making other wind
turbines useless or underperforming. Also on such a small scale, manufacturing of the
product would be hard as it would likely have to be made from scratch.

Q- How to go about a complete wind turbine design that can be used and replicated to use
pre-existing energy and convert it to electrical energy. How would such a small scale affect
the principles behind wind turbines? How would they take the energy and convert it.
