A MESSAGE FROM OUR GOVERNOR

Dear Brothers and Co-Workers:
HAPPY 2016 to ALL ! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. Now its on to 2016 here at Claymont Moose Lodge.
Our mid-year conference will be held February 4-7 at the Clarion Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. Its a great time to bond
with fellow Moose members and obtain new ideas for gaining and retaining members. This conference is for all members
in good standing. Come out and give it a try. See any officer if you would like to attend.
Also in February there will be a Valentines Dinner hosted by some of the Loyal Order of Moose. Please see the
sign-up sheet if you plan to attend. As always, there will be functions hosted by the Women of the Moose throughout
the months ahead.and we need your support. Look for postings of events and lend a hand when possible for this is
Our Claymont Moose Lodge. When we all pitch in, the success affects us all, especially the children of Mooseheart
and the seniors at Moosehaven.
Believe it or not, this in my last newsletter as your Governor. I would like to thank all of you for your support during
my term. We had success and fun and, without all of you, it would not have happened.
Fraternally,
Jim Sheftz

A MESSAGE FROM OUR SENIOR REGENT

Dear Brothers and Co-Workers:
I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work for our Fall and Winter activities, particularly all of the same
hard working people volunteering their time and energy to make the Moose Lodge a place for everyone to enjoy. It would
be nice if every member would put some time and energy into this Lodgea half hour or hour of your time each week or
month would help the handful of people who continue to bring you food and fun every day. For the year 2016, please make
a small New Years resolution to help at your Lodge. It doesnt have to be a lot but just a little of your time will go far.
.
Timmy Speakman and Patty Hudakthank you again for a very successful crab feast. Everyone went home
with full bellies and got crabby when they couldnt eat any more. Boy, that beautiful devil and her scary crew were
successful again in giving your children and grandchildren a fun spooky Halloween party. Thank you Kelly Griggs Clark
and crew. The members Halloween Party was, of course, fun. Its always fun to dress up for Halloween. We had great
food and friendship; those two things always make for a fun night out.
The grand prize winner of the beautiful snow blower was Dave Mooreapparently you had the opportunity to use
your prize with the recent snow storm. I bet you were the envy of everyone who didnt win. Our Country Western Party did
well again. Thanks to everyone for getting out your cowboy and cowgirl hats and eating all of the delicious vittles.
Rita Anderson and her helpers put together a wonderful Thanksgiving Eve celebration that enabled us all to get
together as a large family and give thanks. The holiday ham and turkey raffles went over well and we had many lucky
winners. The Canned Food Donation Program could have been better as just a small amount was collected. One of the
Mooses mission is to support our local communities. If every member would bring a can or two when they walked through
the door, we would have helped feed the less fortunate who cant come in here and eat and drink as we do.
This years Claymont Community Christmas Parade was a lot of fun. Its always thrilling to see all of the people
along the parade route. Maybe next year we will have more participation from our Lodge members. Its very disappointing
to only see maybe 10-15 members represent Claymont Moose Lodge. The annual Childrens Christmas Party is always
successful, thanks to Kelly Griggs Clark and her elves. Thank you for all your hard work that you give for our members
children. The annual Members Christmas Party was also a great success with many members attending and enjoying the
festive dayeven some members who we dont see all year. It was great to see everyone. Thank you Rita Anderson for
all the cooking and decorating that you do for all of your fellow members to give them a wonderful Christmas Party.
Thank you WOTM who dedicate all their time volunteering to cook, decorate, provide community services, and all
of the many other things you do to make the Lodge what it is. As always, we can use more help in all of our activities every
month.we would also welcome help from any of our big and strong Lodge brothers. THANK YOU all for a great year.
God Bless our Moose Lodge and God Bless Everyone.
In Faith, Hope, and Charity,
Lorraine Talarico Smith

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

YOUR NEIGHBORS LAUNDRY
A young couple moved into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating
breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside. That laundry is not very
clean, she said. She doesnt know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.
Her husband looked on, but remained silent.
Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same
comments. About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line
and said to her husband: Look, she has finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who
taught her this? The husband said, I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.
And so it is with life. What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window
through which we look.

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT..

During some point of the journey, they had an argument and one friend slapped the other one in the
face. The one who got slapped was hurt but, without saying anything, he wrote in the sand:
Today my best friend slapped me in the face.
They kept on walking until they found an oasis where they decided to take a bath. The one who
had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning but the friend saved him. After he
recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: Today my best friend saved my life.
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, after I hurt you, you wrote in the
sand but now you wrote on a stone.why? The friend replied: when someone hurts us we
should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But when someone
does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.
Learn to WRITE YOUR HURTS in the SAND and to CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them,
but then an entire life to forget them.
