    This is an excerpt of a live improvisation by Sean Ali (bass), Leila Bordreuil

    (cello), and Joanna Mattrey (viola). The performance took place at MoMA PS1, in
    August 2015.
    The trio was formed in January 2015, with the goal of exploring the sonic
    possibilities that arise from the unusual assemblage of these lower register
    instruments. Preparations and extended techniques are used, with fleeting
    references to mid-century avant-garde.
