Accurate and timely documentation of regulatory compliance is a service that you deserve from your residuals management company. Synagro provides this service, as part of its turnkey operations, through its proprietary Residual Management System (RMS). RMS is an integrated data management system that has been designed to store, manage and report information about our client's residual programs. ‘The system can present a variety of report formats at the push of a button. Information in the system is as current as last week’s activity. Every time our professional Operations and Technical staff perform activities relating to your residuals program, RMS is updated to record the characteristics of your material, how much material was moved, when it was moved, who moved it and where it went. In addition to basic operational information, residuals laboratory analyses are input in order to. monitor both annual and cumulative loading rates for metals and nutrients. This loading information is coupled’ with field identification to provide current information for agronomic application rate computation. This information is used in two ways. First and foremost, it provides a database for regulatory reporting and provides the information required for monthly and annual technical reports. Secondarily, information entered into RMS is used as an. integral part of the invoicing process. This ‘check and balance system provides a link between the operational, technical and accounting departments of Synagro, to ensure correct accounting and regulatory compliance. RMS is a perfect combination of function and flexibility. ‘The program manages a broad spectrum of information, and can generate reports in different formats as required by local, state and federal regulations, It is a tool that gives Synagro and our clients instant information access for accurate professional residuals management We will soon make secure intemet access to RMS data available to access Synagro operational information for our clients and field nutrient loading information for our farmers. In addition, we will soon be able to provide electronic reporting to the EPA and other regulatory agencies. Synagro continues to invest in RMS so that we remain at the cutting edge of residuals management. The ability to access accurate and timely information is a valuable and vital benefit of selecting Synagro as your biosolids management partner. To help improve, replenish and maintain healthy soil, Synagro specializes in applying nutrient rich, organic wastewater biosolids to agricultural farmland. Treated wastewater biosolids provide the soil with important nutrients, boost soil water-holding capacity, reduce topsoil runoff, and increase plant growth. Rich in nitrogen and phosphorus, two elements essential for crop growth, biosolids also contain micro- nutrients such as sulfur, magnesium, calcium, copper, zinc, and some potassium. Most commonly used chemical fertilizers contain few of these valuable nutrients. Replenishing farm topsoil with biosolids help farms remain viable by maintaining the land’s long- term productivity. The largest component of biosolids is organic matter. Asa soil conditioner, organic matter loosens clay and, like peat moss, improves the consistency of sandy soils. The improved texture of these treated soils promotes dense, healthy root growth. Plants are then able to take up nutrients more easily, often producing a higher crop yield than is possible with an equivalent amount of chemical fertilizer. By allowing the soil to better absorb and retain water, the organic matier ftom biosolids also reduces erosion and help crops survive dry seasons. Specific crops require different amounts of nitrogen for optimum growth: Synagro applies biosolids to farmland in the amount necessary to meet these nitrogen needs. Nitrogen is then slowly released throughout the growing season as soil bacteria decompose the organic solids. In contrast to chemical fertilizers, the natural release of organic nitrogen coincides with the plant’s uptake of nitrogen, This eliminates excess nitrogen (nitrate) release into groundwater, which can occur with inorganic nitrogen from commercial fertilizers. The end result is that land application of biosolids improves the soil, crops, groundwater, and overall local environment, while also playing a vital role in cleaning our nations waterways.
