Our Data Team Journey

Summer 2012:
I was on a team consisting of our principal,
assistant principal, another teacher, and myself
who attended district training sessions on data
teams. These sessions continued throughout
the 2013-14 school year.

Spring 2014:
Our team determined how we were
going to introduce data teams to staff.

Our second grade teachers conducted a pilot


data team in the spring of 2014.

Guiding points for implementations:


1. Staff must understand why we are using data teams.
2. We need to communicate how data teams are similar
to what we are already doing.
3. We need to start small and not overwhelm our
teachers.
4. Our team needs to provide a streamline recording
document to guide data teams.

August 2014:

Our team trained staff on data teams implementation.
Our second grade team shared our data team
experience as an example.
Grade levels determined power standards.
Fall 2014:

The entire staff meets in the cafeteria for PLC
time. Administration is able to provide
immediate support.
