Additional Experimental Procedure Do First
Density of Vinegar

1) Weigh the empty 100.0 mL volumetric flask
2) Pour about 120 mL of vinegar into your 150 mL beaker
3) Rinse your 100 mL volumetric flask with a few mL of vinegar
4) Carefully fill the 100 mL volumetric with vinegar (until to bottom of the
meniscus is at the 100.0 mL line).
5) Weigh the vinegar and volumetric flask
6) Using this data calculate the density of vinegar.

Write-up

1) Abstract

2) Introduction - define titration, acid, base, etc.

3) Calculations - also include balanced chemical equations for the reaction
being investigated

Show all calculations once. Show the calculation for the density of vinegar.

Data Work-up

1) Calculate average volume of NaOH

2) Calculate the number of moles of acetic acid in your vinegar sample.

3) Calculate the percent weight of acetic acid in your sample.

% weight of acetic acid = Wt. of acetic acid x 100%

Wt. of vinegar

4) Limits on Results

5) Questions - p. 20 Post laboratory #1(all parts 1-4) and #2

6) Conclusions Does the percent acidity of the vinegar agree with your
calculated wt %?
