100 YOUTH TRAINED ON BUSINESS SKILLS & SENSITIZED ON EXISTING BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

The Youth Enterprise Development Fund conducted a training on business skills and sensitized young people
on emerging business opportunities in an enterprise development training forum organized in partnership
with Mombasa County government held from Friday 5th 7th January 2016, at Tononoka Municipal Hall,
Mombasa County.

The event was aimed at providing the youth participants with adequate information on entrepreneurship
and existing business opportunities within both the national government as well as the county level, these
skills and information would in turn enable them make smart choices when venturing into business. Among
the key topics of focus included, business registration, licensing and basic legal requirements for AGPO and
business planning.
The two day training/sensitization was officially opened by Mombasa County Minister Youth, Gender &
Sports Hon. Mohammed Abbas who recognized the efforts the Fund is has put in place to empower young
people and urged them to be aggressive in seeking opportunities available to them in order to engage in viable businesses.
The training/sensitization was conducted by YEDF Enterprise Development Officer, Mr. Morris Ondiek, who
also took the participants through a step by step presentation on the products and services available at the
Fund and urged participants to be curious and take advantage of these opportunities. The Youth Fund provides affordable credit to young people to start and expand businesses, to engage in Agri-business, as well as
to participate in government tenders he said.
The forum was also attended by other Youth Fund Officers and a representative from Kenya Network Information Centre (KENIC) who also made a brief presentation on web design/.ke registration.
