How to perform Salah

1.

A Muslim begins every action with intention. To yourself, make the intention to cleanse
yourself for prayer, for the sake of Allah.

2. Face the Qiblah and pronounce the Takbir al-Ihram, raising your hands.
3. Place your hands between chest and navel; right on left.
4. Recite the Sana.
5.

Say the Taawuz.

6. Recite Surah al-Fatihah.


7.

Recite additional portions of the Quran.

8. Pronounce the Takbir and make Ruku.


9. While in Ruku say the prescribed tasbih.
10. Say the benediction upon rising from Ruku.
11. Resume the standing posture.
12. Pronounce the Takbir and go into sajdah.
13. While in sajdah say the prescribed tasbih.
14. Pronounce the Takbir and sit briefly.
15. Recite the istighfar while sitting.
16. Pronounce the Takbir and repeat the sajdah.
17. Pronounce the Takbir and sit for tashahud.
18. While sitting say the tashahud; salat un nabi and then make duaa as desired.
19. Declare the tasleem. (Saying salaam and turning the head first right and then left).

Note:
If the prayer is more than one rakah, stand after second sajdah repeat steps 6 through 19.
If the prayer is more than two rakahs, stand after reciting the Tashahud only and complete the
required number of rakahs in the usual manner.
