Application for a JOB-SEEKER


SEEKER Visa (short term and long term job seeker)
All Indian nationals who wish to seek employment in the Federal Republic of Germany
require a visa prior to their departure. Applicants may apply for a temporary res
residence
permit for up to six months.
An application may only be filed at the German Consulate General Chennai under the
provision that the applicant
has permanent residence in the area of jurisdiction of the Consulate which includes
the states of Tamil Nadu,
du, Andhra Pradesh and the Union Territory Puducherry.
Personal appearance for interview at the German Consualte General is mandatory for
all applicants applying for a Job-Seeker

Consulate General under the category of employment visa.

Admission to the Visa Section of the German Consulate General will only be granted at the
time of the scheduled appointment. Being late will consequently result in scheduling a new
appointment at your expense.
The visa application must be supported by all the necessary documents as only visa
applications with complete supporting documents will be entertained.
In case your visa application and the supporting
supporting documents are in accordance with the
requirements for a job seeker visa, your documents will be verified and forwarded to the
competent Immigration Office in Germany for mandatory approval.
It is important to allow ample time for applying for the job seeker
seeker visa as the visa process
might take up to 3 months and more.
Simultaneous applications for a Schengen visa and a residence permit cannot be
entertained.

Kindly note, that you will not be allowed to take up employment with a job seeker
visa. Your visa will however be changed to a residence permit for employment in
Germany, once you have found adequate employment.
Upon application for the Job-Seeker Visa at the German Consulate General the following
documents have to be submitted in original along with an attested translation in English with
three identical and arranged sets of copies for each document. (copies have to be provided
in DIN-A4 size only):

Two Visa Application Forms (please make sure that both forms are filled out and
signed mentioning especially the address of your future residence in Germany
(question 15) as well as your complete address which includes telephone No. and EMail-address in India)

Signed Declaration on True and Complete Information

Three passport size photos

The Visa fee to be paid through Demand Draft made out to the Consulate General
of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chennai (in case you cannot click on the
given link, please refer to our homepage)

Valid passport with a validity of at least 12 months along with two copies of all printed
pages. Please note that Indian passports can only be accepted if their bio data
(name, date of birth, place of birth of holder, gender) have not been modified by an
"observation". However, observations regarding the validity of the passport are
permitted.

Motivation letter from applicant, explaining the exact purpose, course of action to find
employment and duration of your stay in Germany as well as next career plans
should stay in Germany be unsuccessful

Proof of Academic Qualification (from a German university or equal or equivalent to a


German academic degree) and relevant previous work Experience Certificates for
future employment in Germany (for recognition of non-german degrees kindly refer to
www.anabin.de )

personal CV containing full education and employment history

Proof of accommodation in Germany (if staying with a friend or relative,


Verpflichtungserklrung = formal obligation letter from local Immigration Authority
would be appreciated)

Proof of sufficient funds for the entire duration of stay (Verpflichtungserklrung as


above, bank accounts, tax assessment form etc if applicable)

Proof of personal status in India and marriage certificate, birth certificates of children,
ration card, if applicable

20,000.00 Rupees investigation fee for the verification of all documents of Indian origin (to be paid by demand draft payable to the Consulate General of the Federal
Republic of Germany).
The German Consulate General reserves the right to ask for additional documents!
Please note that in case of incomplete documents the application will not be accepted and
processed by the Consulate General. Consequently a new appointment has to be
scheduled!
