Arm
Light Source Stage Clips
Body Tube
Nosepiece
Fine Adjustment Knob
Coarse Adjustment Knob
Objective Lenses

Microscope Instructions
1. Plug in the microscope and turn on the lamp.
2. Place the Low Power Objective Lens (the
shortest) facing towards the stage
3. Place the slide on the stage and secure in place
with stage clips.
4. Use the Coarse Adjustment Knob (large knob)
to bring the slide into view then use the Fine
Adjustment Knob (small knob) to make it clearer.
5. Once you have the image in view, rotate the
nosepiece to view it under different magnifications.
**Be careful if you want to use the highest power objective lens (the long
one). If the stage is too close it might not fit and therefore scratch the lens!
**

6. When done:
turn off the lamp
place low power
objective facing
down
put the slide away
wrap the cord
cover the
microscope

Microscope Instructions
1. Plug in the microscope and turn on the
______________.
2. Place the ________________________________________
(the shortest) facing towards the stage
3. Place the ________________ on the _______________
and secure in place with ______________.
4. Use the ___________ adjustment knob (large
knob) to bring the slide into view then use the
____________ adjustment knob(small knob) to make
it clearer.
5. Once you have the image in view, rotate the
_____________ to view it under different
magnifications.
**Be careful if you want to use the highest power
objective lens (the __________ one). If the stage is too
_________ it might not fit and therefore _____________ the
lens!**

6. When done:

Turn off the __________

Place low power
objective facing
________
Put the _________away
Wrap the ____________
________ the microscope

How to Carry a
Microscope:
1. Make sure the cord is wrapped around the arm (and
the end is tucked in) and that the low power
objective is facing down.
2. Place one hand on the arm,
and the other hand on the
base.
3.Lift up and walk carefully.

How to Calculate the Total

Magnification:

Multiply the power of the eyepiece lens by the power

of the objective lens. Our microscopes have an
eyepiece lens magnification of 10x.
Low Power:
10x (eyepiece lens) x 4x (low power objective)
= 40 times magnification
Medium Power:
10x (eyepiece lens) x 10x (medium power objective)
= 100 times magnification
High Power:
10x (eyepiece lens) x 40x (high power objective)
= 400 times magnification
