Question 4 2/5

I personally found Thinking Outside the box to be more persuasive for a few
reasons. I felt it was more persuasive because it destroyed points stated in
Watching TV Makes you smarter, and uses good examples. The first point that it
destroyed by Dana Stevens was when Johnson points out shows like 24, Lost, the
Sopranos, Dana states that in an episode like 24 there is 16 minutes worth of
commercials. This shows that for at least 16 minutes the viewer is getting thrown
junk out of the idiot box. Lastly, I enjoyed when Stevens states that like rats in a
behaviorists cage (Stevens 25). I felt this was an interesting quote because it
made me think about how we are trained from a young age to fall into this rat
cage and be force fed while watching TV, to watch more TV. In conclusion, I feel
Dana Stevens does a very good job refuting Johnsons points, and uses good
examples to persuade the reader that the TV is really just an idiot box.
