(610) 589-9293 + Fax: (619) 220-1938 OL pis" February 3, 2016 ‘To Whom It May Coneem: Lauren Bagby completed her first semester of student teaching under my supervision during the Spring 2015 semester at Lewis Middle School, Ms. Bagby observed and assisted in one section of English 8 for which I was the teacher on record, and assumed the role of teacher in another. Both classes included G.A.T.E. as well as general education students, and English learners. Ms. Bagby quickly took charge of the instruction in her class, and was fully responsible for planning and instruction for the last six weeks of the school year. Although when she left Lewis, she still had another semester of student teaching to complete, Ms, Bagby was already an excellent teacher. Her background in writing and her prior teaching experiences provided her with impressive content and pedagogical knowledge, upon which she continued.to build. Ms, Bagby was assiduous in her planning and analysis of student work. This, gave her the opportunity to provide timely feedback to students, build strong rapport, and plan to meet their various needs, It was clear that the students Ms. Bagby taught truly appreciated having her as their teacher. They not only liked her, they respected her as well. Although mild-mannered by nature, she developed an engaging presence and strong classroom management. Additionally, she brought with her a fresh, innovative approach to address the new Common Core State Standards, Ms, Bagby will be a great asset to any school lucky enough to have her.
