Re:

Employment

It is my pleasure during the 2015-16 school year to work with Ms. Kaitlin Quellhorst
during Student Teaching at Fairborn Baker School, Fairborn City Schools, Fairborn,
Ohio. Kaitlin is teaching 7-8th grade social studies and math classes.
Ms. Quellhorst experiences students ranging from gifted to students on IEPs as well
as ESL students. Her students span the socioeconomic scale from one extreme to the
other. Fairborn is located near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, so she has the
experience of students coming and going throughout the year and students with
parents that are deployed.
During my observation of Ms. Quellhorst, both formal and walk-ins, I am delighted
with what I observe. She thinks on her feet and does not get flustered if the
schedule changes or things do not go perfectly. She adapts as quickly, if not more so
than most seasoned teachers. She truly understands and practices differentiated
instruction with all her lessons. Her methods for assessment are varied and
appropriate for the subject that she teaches.
Her classroom management is exceptional. She controls the class with a style that
makes the students feel good about themselves and when she does have to speak to
a student, it is handled privately and never an embarrassment to the student. Her
management skills are displayed in the halls, lunchroom, etc. not just the classroom.
I have 30 years of teaching experience and almost 4 years as a supervisor. During
all of those years, Kaitlin by far is the strongest and most organized student teacher
I have ever experienced. I recommend Kaitlin Quellhorst without reservation.
I hope that you will give serious consideration to employing Ms. Kaitlin Quellhorst.
She would truly be an asset to your district. If you need further information, please
call or email me, (937) 429-2473 or sheila.wallace@wright.edu.
