Some/Any

Some
We use some before countable (only plural) and uncountable nouns to refer to indefinite or incomplete quantities.
e.g. some water/tea/coffee (some + uncountable noun)
some pens/tissues/tissues (some + plural countable noun)
We use some in affirmative sentences and in questions (when we expect a positive answer yes).
e.g. Ive got some water.
Have you got some water? (expecting the answer yes)

Any
We use any before countable (only plural) and uncountable nouns to refer to indefinite or incomplete quantities.
We use any in questions and negative sentences.
e.g. Have you got any eggs? (question: any + plural countable noun)
I havent got any eggs. (negative sentence: any + plural countable noun)
e.g. Has he got any milk? (question: any + uncountable noun)
He hasnt got any milk. (negative sentence: any + uncountable noun)
