INFRARED BRAKE TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Infrared sensors can be used to measure the surface temperature of brake discs, allowing assessment of brake cooling effectiveness and the likelihood of excessive wear of friction material. MoTeC
offer two types of Infrared Brake Temperature Sensor, to suit both carbon fibre and steel brake discs,
with calibrations taking into account the different emissivity values of the two materials. This data
sheet covers the following sensors:
52005 0-1200C IR Temp Sensor more suitable for carbon-fibre brake discs
52006 0-1000C IR Temp Sensor more suitable for steel brake discs

Calibration
Sensor calibration is done at a distance of 50mm from
the target, and a different calibration is used depending on whether the sensor is being used to measure
the temperature of carbon fibre or steel
