I am interested in applying for an Industrial Arts teacher position. As a future graduate of the University of Winnipeg/Red River College Co-op program in Industrial Arts/Bachelor of Education, I am not only a wellqualified candidate for a classroom setting with a teachable major in geography, but I also hold excellent qualifications with a second major in Industrial Arts. My Industrial Arts major included extensive training in Woodworking, Metalworking, 3-D Printing, Ring Casting, Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD), Graphic Arts, Technology Education, Automotive and Electronics. I am currently finishing my fifth year placement at Vincent Massey Colligate in the Pembina Trails School Division. My teaching duties in this placement include teaching Industrial Arts (Woodworking) and Grade 10 Geography. In addition to teaching these courses I have also taught Electronics/Graphic Arts at Oak Park High School and Metalworking/Graphic Design at Shaftesbury High School. These placements have given me the opportunity to work with a variety of learners from various backgrounds including at risk youth. These experiences have lead me to explore different approaches to my teaching and classroom management techniques in order to help all learners to be successful learners in my classroom. My cooperating teachers and placements have helped me to become a quick problem solver, learn to disarm tense situations quickly, while at the same time maintaining a creative, nurturing and most of all, patient attitude and demeanor. I strongly believe that volunteering my time with learners outside of class is very important and I am going to be taking part guitar building club at Vincent Massey Colligate. I have also had the Industrial Arts labs open at lunch for learners looking to work on projects or develop new projects. The extra time spent with learners grants me the opportunity to get to know learners better than is typically possible in a regular classroom setting. It is my goal to bring my range of experiences and expertise and make a positive contribution to your school division. I look forward to discussing a position with you in the future, please contact me with any questions you may have. Sincerely,
