On July 12, 1997, Malala Yousafzai was born in Mingora,
Pakistan, located in the country's Swat Valley.
Swat Valley began to change as the Taliban tried to take control. Talibans belives young girls shouldnt go to school so they closed woman schools. Malala began blogging for the BBC about living under the Taliban's threats. Her family and learned that the Taliban had issued a death threath against her so they was frightned for their safety.
The Attack
On october 9,2012, a gunman boarded her school bus and
shot her on the left side of her head.
The shooting left Malala in critical condition, she was flown
to a military hospital, and to receive better care, she was transfered to England.
In March 2013 she was able to begin attending school in
England.
Malala showed optimism during her long recovery.
After the attack
She became a symbol of the struggle for girls rights all
over the world. Nine months after she was shot, in her 16th birthday, she gave a now-famous-speech at the ONU. they thought that the bullets would silence, but they failed she said. In October 8 was published his autobiography tittled Im Malala. She was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2013. In 2014, she was nominated again and won, becoming the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Malala shares the prize with Kailash Satyarthi, a 60-yearold man from India who has helped lead a movement to end child slavery around the world.
