Case Study: easyJet


Background
easyJet had been running voluntary benefits with a different provider. Their objective when going to the market
was to develop and enhance their reward package by allowing employees to select their own rewards through a
one stop solution, offering voluntary benefits, flexible benefits and online total reward statements, alongside an
employee helpdesk. They were looking for a provider that could deliver provision of a solution that was both
flexible and cost effective, that could adapt and change to meet easyJets changing requirements. They wanted a
system that was reliable and accurate, and that would perform flex related calculations itself. Not only did they
want to increase scheme take-up across employees, but also offer a service that provided a high quality user
experience for employees and a high level of service to easyJets HR and Payroll teams.

The approach
Through a structured process, Aon:

Supported a pre-implementation staff survey to understand the needs of employees

Held an initial scoping meeting with easyJet to get a clear understanding of the issues they were facing and
discuss the various benefits being launched

Implemented an online flexible benefits platform and ongoing administration service

Delivered a bespoke communication launch plan for easyJet, comprising both online and offline elements, in
partnership with their HR Department, to assist in the promotion of a common benefits brand

Created tailored management information reports to meet easyJets particular requirements

The outcome

Over 40% of the population (1951 users out of 4844) had registered to use the online benefit portal in year
one.

Over 4,000 employees selected their benefits in year two, spending over 16m, and generating easyJet
National Insurance savings of over 1.1m.

The most popular benefits have been life cover, PMI, childcare vouchers, pension, travel and holiday trading.

Aon also consulted on three new benefits which have been introduced to the scheme for 2013: concierge
services, loss of licence and mobile phones.
