¾ Overview of the ESP Progress


¾ General Project Description Updates (JV-1, JV-2, and JV-3, Santa Teresa)
¾ Approximately 51.25 miles of tactical infrastructure (TI)
¾ TI will consist of vehicle fence, construction roads, and access roads
¾ Five access roads will be utilized for construction and maintenance
¾ The access roads are approximately 1.2, 0.4, 2.9, 1.1, and 2.4 miles in length
¾ Construction roads will generally run parallel to the fence sections and the total
footprint will be approximately 60 feet wide,
¾ Seven staging areas will be utilized for lay-down of construction material
¾ Staging areas will be approximately 300 feet X 300 feet in size
¾ TI will follow the US/Mexico International Border within the Roosevelt Reservation
to the greatest extent practicable
¾ Vehicle fencing will be post on rail and Normandy-style

¾ Biological
¾ Biological surveys were completed June 24th and 25th, 2008.

¾ No protected species observed during surveys.

¾ May affect but not likely adversely affect the northern aplomado falcon and
Sneed’s pincushion cactus.

¾ Cultural
¾ Cultural surveys were completed May 31st.

¾ CR sites located along access roads and within Roosevelt Reservation.

¾ Waters of the US
¾ WUS were identified and recorded during biological surveys

¾ Approximately 0.4 acres of potential WUS would be impacted
