Dear Mr. Larson,
Basin Electric is a nonprofit generation and transmission cooperative incorporated in 1961 to
provide supplemental power to a consortium of rural electric cooperatives. Basin creates
electricity from coal, gas, oil, nuclear, and renewable energy. Basin Electric consumer owned by
138 member cooperative systems. Basin Electric creates and transmit wholesale bulk power to
consumers. Basin Electric transmits electricity to nine states which include Colorado, Iowa,
Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Basin Electric owns 4,015 megawatts and operates 5,003 megawatts of electric generating
capacity by end of year 2015.
Dakota Gasification Company (DGC) is owned by Basin Electric. Dakota Gasification is a Great
Plains Synfuels Plant. This is the only Synfuels Plant that is commercial scale gasification plant
in the United States that produces natural gas. DGC is the cleanest energy plant operating plant
in North Dakota. DGC produces 153 million cubic feet of natural gas. The majority of the natural
gas is piped up to Ventura, IA, for distribution in the eastern United States. DGC supplies carbon
dioxide to the worlds largest carbon capture and storage which is located in Saskatchewan,
Canada. DGC was started in 1984 with a budget of 2.1 billion. The Synfuels Plant has been
owned and operated by Dakota Gas since 1988.
DGC has a job opening for inter for Process operator. The requirement of this job is frequent
walking around, lifting 70 pounds, pulling 90 pounds, use of computer and testing equipment.
Required experience is one year of process/ power plant technology course work with a GPA of
2.5. Also require to have a valid driver licenses with capabilities to drive a manual transmission.
I believe I fit in with these requirements. With my health being in great shape I can easy lift 70 or
pull 90 pounds without a problem. I am currently enrolled in the process program at BSC, so we
are always taught how to use the new and latest testing and computer equipment. I do have a
commercial drivers licenses. I hope I can the family of a Basin Electric employee.
