We had a high percentage of our parents participate in November parent-teacher conferences at both campuses again this year! Join us for our annual Hmong New Year Celebration on Friday, December 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at North campus. Our Hmong CLAnD students are performing! ‘Thanks to Bao, MaiKa and Pai for teaching our Hmong CLAnD after school classes! Our students and parents enjoy making crafts together at our annual PTA Craft Night on Friday, December 11 from 5:30- 7-00 p.m. at South campus. Join us on Tuesday, December 15 for Site Couneil Meeting from 5:30-6:00 p.m. and PTA meeting from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at South campus. Reminder, free school-age childcare is available for our PTA meeting from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Our grade 3-5 students will be taking the OLPA Reading & Math online test this month. Our Minnesota winter cold season has begun! Please send warm winter clothing (jacket, snowpants, boots, hat, mittens) with ‘your child every day for outdoor recess. ‘We sent home a copy of the 2015-2016 Winter Weather Plan with our students on Friday, November 13. The safety and well being of students and staff is our top priority. and the decision to close schools is no simple manner. Before deciding to close school due to extreme weather conditions, ‘Superintendent Valeria Silva consults with a variety of experts both inside and outside of the district. Our commitment is to keep families, staff and the community informed of weather-related school closing and cancellations. New this year, wind chill has been adjusted to -35 below to better align with the National Weather Service threshold for issuing a wind chill warning COLD School will be cancelled if the forecast for 6 am, the following morning shows: Wind Chill is below -35 degrees Fahrenheit OR Air Temperature is below -25 degrees Fahrenheit. Decision will be made by 6:30 pam. the night before a cancellation, SNOW The decision to cancel school for snow or hazardous driving conditions will continue to be made by 5 a.m. the moming of a cancellation. Warm coats, mittens and gloves, hats, snow pants, and boots are encouraged for daily outdoor play After School: Please continue to park and walk inside to pick up your child from the lobby at both campuses, Please keep your child home fiom school when your child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher. Your child should stay home for another 24 houts after the fever is gone. Winter Clothing Donations ‘Nokomis Montessori accepts donations of clean, gently used winter coats (size 4-12), snow pants (size 4-12), hats, and mittens to share with students who may be in need, Parents can also donate long pants (size 4-8) and new socks to nurse's office. Just send your donations with your child to the school office. Salvation Army Toy Shop Register by December 4 651-746-3565 The Salvation Army Toy \0p provides parents a chance (o shop for free gifts for their children. We provide toys for newborns to 14 year olds, at six different locations around the metro area. Registration for Toy Shop begins November 9" through December 4", 2015.
