Once, they lived a milkmaid named Susie. She milked the cows on her
farm every morning.
One morning, after milking the cows, she put the milk pails on a
wooden table, then, she went to the market. When she came home, she
was shocked to find a milk pail missing. She found some little footprints
near the fence. Susie decided to find out who it is.
The next morning, she put the milk pails on the table and hid in the
bushes near the fence. Soon, she saw three figures climbing over the fence
and into her farm, they slowly walked to the table and took the milk pail.
Susie quickly rushed out from the bushes and caught one of them. To her
surprise, it was a gnome. The other two gnomes pleaded with Susie and
promised not to steal again. Susie did not scold the gnomes. The gnomes
were happy and they volunteered to work for her.
