The plant visit we've made was truly successful indeed. We first go to
Subicwater located in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Philippines which operates the
water process in the land areas near Subic, before water reaches the establishment,
it goes through various treatment process in the water treatment plant. Subicwater
works two kinds of water treatment plants, which are the Binictican Water
Treatment Plant and the Mabayuan Water Treatment Plant. I've seen different steps
or procedures on how the water was being considered. Even though they have 2
kinds of water treatment plants, they have the same procedures to establish during
the treatment process. These processes are the following Mixing, Sedimentation,
Filtration, Disinfection, Distribution and Water Quality Monitoring. They've shown us
how the water goes through in and out the plantation.
After Subicwater we travelled next in Metro Clark Waste Management located
in Tarlac. It is promoting and maintaining environmentally responsible practices
which is very beneficial for everyone. A rocky place to go but different particular
areas were being used as specified facilities. Here are some highlights why Metro
Clark Waste Management is in high standards, Entrance Station with weighbridge,
Disposal site in accordance to European standards, Leachate storages and
treatment ponds, retention basins, different zones and recovery facilites. The
facilitator explains to us how the waste are being manage and controlled and being
converted to another stuff. They segregate reusable materials to those materials
that is being decayed. All in all, it was a memorable and knowledgeable trip we had
in the 2 plantations we visited. I've really learn a lot of things, especially the hands
on application of the things we study in ENV 20.
