    Dear Parents/Guardians,
    We are writing to make you aware of an incident that occurred earlier today at approximately
    11:40 a.m.
    REC staff contacted the Winnipeg Police Service to make them aware that an individual was
    observed with a weapon near River East Collegiate. Police responded promptly and took the
    individual into custody. The individual is not an REC student.
    Our students safety is very important to us. We strongly believe that all of our schools are safe
    places and we will continue to work with all members of our community to ensure that River East
    Collegiate remains a place of safety and respect.
