Overview:
This article talks about how teachers should not lose focus on what is important, the students learning
outcome. It continues on stating that teachers planning should begin with determining what to teach,
then move to developing objectives, choosing methods and strategies to teach the content, and deciding
how to evaluate his or her students progress. The article states that teachers must have a close focus on
what it is that they want their students to learn, not just in a lesson plan, but in a semester plan. What
are students taking home as far as knowledge is concerned. Keeping a track of students with IEPs is
also a concern of the article, and promotes teachers to have that in mind when creating their lesson
plans. Students with IEPs need to be taken into consideration when lesson planning no doubt.

Critical Evaluation:
It is difficult but not impossible to create lesson plans that include all of the students. Even if the lesson
plans are not geared towards specific students, but to the general class, as a teacher you must be
conscious about students with IEPs. Although I have had students with IEPs ask not to be given
different work, I still modify it when grading it. Planning instruction is key and keeping in mind the
students needs not only helps them, but creates a better learning environment for all.
