To Whom it May Concern:
As a high school language and composition teacher, | rarely come across students who are simply a joy to
have in class, let it be because of their work ethic, their stellar personality, or their dedication to fuffiling
their education, However, when one does enter my classroom, | am thriled. Shyanne Harvey is one of
these awe inspiring students; one who can be described as nothing short of amazing.
Here at Bayside High School, Shyanne's academic life is a rigorous one. Throughout her entire high
school career, she has taken the road less traveled by participating in accelerated courses. Beginning her
sophomore year, enrolled in AP Human Geography, AP US History, and AP English Language and
Composition and has continued her rigorous academic course load this year as a senior by enrolling in AP
English Literature and Composition, and AP Biology.
| frst had the opportunity to witness how much drive and dedication Shyanne has at the beginning of her
sophomore year as she was an avid member ofthe class of 2016, and | sponsor tis club. Although she
was active as a freshman within her class, her sophomore year really demonstrated to not only herself but
to those around her that she was a bom leader. Her participation within the Sophomore Ciass fostered
Shyanne's intemal need to serve others, causing her to take on even more responsibiliies at school
Shyanne is the Vice President for Educators Rising where her position allows her to help run meetings and
prepare her club for competitions, both on local and national arenas. She also serves as a Sunday school
teacher at Kempsville Christian Church where she works with preschool and elementary school aged
children and composes lessons for each class. Her interaction with these young people really fostered her
want to be an educator and serve her community. Additionally, Shyanne also served in two different
mmission trips ~ one to Puerto Rico and one to Jamaica — where she lead a vacation bible school for the
local children and assisted in feeding the homeless, painting hospital rooms, and working with sick patients,
Aside from all of this, Shyanne is a compassionate friend to all of her peers and an utler joy to teach. She
is inquisitive, fun-loving, funny, and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Shyanne is a
special young woman with a strong set of values that do not waver, even in the face of adversity. This is
something to be admired by not only her teachers but by her peers as well. Out of al of the students | have
taught over the years, Shyanne Harvey is one that | know wil go far in life. Because of her determination
and strong work ethic, | know that she will become not only a productive member of society, but one that
will contribute so much to those around her. | cannot wait to hear about all of her future accomplishments,
Sincerely,
pple
