Reflection

Since I have begun to take Early Education courses I have learned a lot about myself. I
discovered that I truly do enjoy educating young minds and being part of those stepping stones
for infants/toddlers/young children. I never thought I would be a teacher, but I have come to
realize that I actually love it and want to be a part of that community that enhances the young
generation.
I learned quite a lot from the different courses I have taken. In Edu 210 I learned about
the political side to education. While it is a teachers job to be open-minded and there should be
no restrictions on what or how we educate students, but unfortunately there are limits. In Edu
214 I learned about the advantages of technology in the classroom and how we can utilize. There
are so many great programs and pieces of technology to utilize for the students, that it seems a
waste not to use them. In Edu 280, one of my favorite classes, I learned about diversity and how
to overcome it within the classroom. This class was so open and honest, it was an overall great
experience and learning opportunity for me.
In Edu 299, the class so far has been pretty interesting. It has been teaching me how to
manage a classroom and how to set up a portfolio for a future job reference. In Ece 250 it focuses
on the fundamentals of early childhood education. There are a lot of great activities that helped
me learn and better understand more about DAP. In Ece 252 I learned about how to observe and
the importance of observation in a classroom setting. It can be very helpful for the teacher to
watch and take in the information of her students before jumping to conclusions. In Ece 260 we
focused more on literature. It is very helpful to know what literature is age appropriate and
educationally appropriate for children.
I think these artifacts will be a great resources for me to look back on when I do began
my teaching career. The will remind me of the necessities of the children and what I can do to
better their education.
