Identifying criteria and specifying constraints
4. Identifying criteria and specifying constraints
What are the criteria and constraints of the design problem?

Cranes are a tool used on construction sites

that help lift heavy objects. We have to build a
crane for a new construction project being
carried out by FoT Construction Company. The
crane has to hold the most weight possible,
and will be made from materials given to each
group. We will test the crane and measure
how much it can hold before it fails.

The crane boom must attach to the provided tower. A one-quar

at the end of the crane. The crane should be the4 structure hol
