After completing this lesson, students will be able to:

connect the artistic, economic, and societal impact on the individual citystates during the beginning of the Renaissance

identify how the resurrection of classical ideals were interpreted


regionally in art and architecture

make connections between the rise of the individual patron and the
increased wealth of individual city-states in Europe

After completing this lesson, students will be able to:

analyze how the European economic, religious, educational and political


context defined the beginning of the Baroque period

examine how the Baroque artist combined real and illusionary qualities to
physically and emotionally involve the viewer

After completing this lesson, students will be able to:

make connections between the Industrial revolution and renewed interest


in science and the shift towards realism in art

understand how the cultural shift during Realism is represented with the
dominant subject matter of labor and science

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

recognize the connection between Dada and Surrealism and the birth of
the Surrealist movement

understand the connection between the expression of the imagination


and Surrealism

examine the stylistic and philosophical differences between


Suprematism, Constructivism, De Stijl, and the Bauhuas
