Dear parents,

My name is Blaine Larson, and I will be interning in Mrs. Nelsons class

for the rest of the year. I am a junior at Sammamish High School, and this
internship is part of a class called Teaching Academy. In Teaching Academy
we have spent all of first semester learning about education, and now have
the opportunity to spend 6th and 7th period on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays
in an internship of our choice.
I am thrilled to intern in this class specifically for several reasons: the
overwhelmingly positive experiences I have had with Mrs. Nelson, my love of
algebra, and finally, the students in this class stand out to me already as a
delightful and lively group. I truly look forward to working with them.
Highland was the third middle school I attended, and the community and
compassion I found there gave me the tools I needed to overcome social
anxiety and learn to talk to people. I have come away from that with a deep
appreciation and understanding of people around me, and I am always there
to support anyone who needs it. I was driven to take Teaching Academy
because of my deep connection to the schools I have been to, and
appreciation of all I have seen teachers do for me and for others. In this
internship, I will work with students in small groups, and be available to
answer questions during work time, in addition to teaching some lessons.
Outside of school, I enjoy creative writing and am currently working on
my second novel. Two years ago I started figure skating as well. After high
school and college, I plan to be a middle school teacher and write novels on
the side.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I look forward to
getting to know your student through the rest of this year.
Sincerely,

Blaine Larson
