Dear Mr. Thompson:

Hi, my name is Erica Chairez, and I am one of your wonderful students in Dawn’s class. I am
writing to you so you can be aware of the food that you are giving to us. I am so concerned and
worried about it.

Please, we want you to take this unhealthy food away especially the Hot Pockets and the
Goldfish Grahams, because this food contains ingredients that we don’t know. For example,
they contain: stearavy lactylate, sodium tripolyphosphate, methylcellulose, l - cysteine
monocalcium phosphate. I am so concerned because I read an article that says that 64 % percent
of children’s, adolescents and adults in America are obese and overweight because of these trans
fat ingredients. As students we are we don’t want to be part of this problem. The reality is that
this problem is starting in school cafeterias, only because they don’t want to spend a lot money. I
just want you to know as mother, I am very concerned because my son will be also in this
situation. Please, it’s not a lot to ask. We want you to take this unhealthy food away from us and
start giving healthy food, with ingredients that we know and
recognize.

Thank you so much for your attention and time for reading my letter.

Sincerely,

Erica Chairez
Yours smarts student
