You are on page 1of 1

You can use the test results you have already got.

The labs are the same, but you must

put additional material in the report. In the lessons I did say that because of the IET
regulations and some changes to the marking system, that just handing in results and a
description would not be enough. Some people from the class have told me that they
remember me saying this, but they forgot to do it. So a quick reminder
Only a few people did any kind of statistical analysis, and you were told it should (1
be done. For example only a few people even did Standard Deviation, and you were
.specifically told to do this a number of times
Many people didn't read the lab sheets, or answer the questions properly. Some (2
students didn't even calculate the mass of the connecting rod. Only 4 students
answered the question about why there is a voltage present on the hall effect device
....even when there isn't a magnet nearby
The explanation of the device. Mostly it was either a picture and a few words from (3
Wikipedia, or many students just cut and pasted information from my lecture notes.
Do a short, but detailed explanation. If you put in pictures and diagrams, state where
.its from, and explain it
Explanation of the results. Mostly short, and very few people mentioned things like (4
sensitivity, range, or usual sensor parameters. Hardly anybody mentioned errors,
....accuracy, repeatability
What factors might have affected the results? E.g. temperature, other ambient (5
....conditions, measurement methods, people

Please make sure the report included these things.
