EXTORTIONIST REPORTER ALONGWITH ASSOCIATES, WHO USED TO

EXTORT GOVT. OFFICIALS ON THE PRETEXT OF CONDUCTING FAKE STING


OPERATIONS ARRESTED : TWO VEHICLES USED TO ENACT FAKE
ACCIDENT SITE ALSO RECOVERED.

With the arrest of two persons namely Pushp Kumar Sharma, aged 38 years s/o Sh.
Ashok Kumar Sharma r/o H.No. J-22, Sec-12, First Floor Noida U.P. and one Pankaj Kumar
s/o Lt. Sh. Raja Ram r/o 1728,Sec-37, Arun Vihar Noida U.P. PS Vasant Vihar ,South Distt.
has un-earthed a racket of cheats who used to extort officials on the pretext of conducting
fake sting operations. They used to create a fake scene of accident on main road. As soon as
the police arrived at the spot, they pretend to compromise the matter. On the pretext of
paying money to victim as damages they took change of Rs. 500/- or 1000/- note from the
police, and after that both of them used to leave the spot. After the incident Pushp Sharma
started making calls to concerned police officers/officials for extortion and threatening them
that they have captured their images with money and have done their sting operation. A case
FIR No. 373/09 u/s 384/389/34 IPC was got registered in this regard at Police Station Vasant
Vihar.
INCIDENT & TEAM & ARREST
On 21/10/09, a PCR call regarding quarrel was received at P.S. Vasant Vihar. HC
Rishi Rose and Ct. Satish were asked to reach the spot near IIT gate where one motor cycle
No. DL-6SX-4624 and one Maruti Car No. KA-04M-4844 were found. The tail light of the
car was slightly broken. At the spot, Pankaj Kumar posed himself as complainant and stated
that his car was hit form behind by motor cycle which was driven by Pushp Kumar. Both the
parties settled the matter on their own and Pushp Sharma asked the change for Rs. 500/from HC Rishi Rose, who gave the change and Pushp Sharma gave Rs. 400/- to car owner
and settled the matter in writing and a copy of the same was also given to HC. After three
four days, Pushp Sharma called HC Rishi Rose and demanded money on the pretext of sting
operation and threatened that the same would be aired on TV Channel. Accordingly, the
matter was reported to the senior officer and raiding party under the supervision of ACP
Vasant Vihar, under the leader ship of SHO/Vasant Vihar Inspr. Sh. Ved Parkash comprising
of Sis Neeraj, Upender Singh, Mahender, HCs Giri Raj,Rishi Rose and Ct. Satish, Ramesh,
was constituted and on 17/11/09 accused Pushp Sharma was arrested when he was receiving
Rs. 10,000/- cash as extortion amount from HC Rishi Rose at SDA Market Sub Way near IIT
Hauz Khas.

INTERROGATION

On sustained, interrogation, it has been revealed that above noted accused persons
used to extort officials on the pretext of conducting fake sting operations. They used to create
a fake scene of accident on main road. As soon as the police arrive at the spot, they pretend
to compromise the matter. On the pretext of paying money to victim as damages they took
change of Rs. 500/- or 1000/- note form the police, and after that both of them used to leave
the spot. Pushp Sharma starts making calls to concerned police officers / officials for
extortion and threatening them. During investigation it came to notice that Maruti Car used
in the fake incident is in the name of wife of accused Pushp Sharma.
The accused also disclosed that in the past he has conducted several of similar sting
operations. So far two police officials including one Head Constable from PS Lodhi Colony
and one Sub. Inspr. from PS I.P.Estate has been identified who were his target. The same is
being investigated.
RECOVERY
1. Rs. 10,000/- Cash as extorted amount
2. Mobile phone of Pushp Sharma from which extorted call were made
3. Motor cycle no. DL6SX 4624 used in fake incident dt. 21/10/09 and Maruti
Car of Pushp Sharma.
4. Indica Car No. UP-16R 0463 in which accused Pushp Sharma came to
receive the extorted amount.

THE INCIDENT AND TEAM
One Dev Singh Sethi S/o Kirpal Singh Sethi R/o 28/66 West
Patel Nagar Delhi reported about burglary of jewellary and cash Rs 39.5 lacs from his
house by breaking locks on 14/11/09 in the evening time, Subsequently, a case was
registered vide FIR No. 459/09 u/s 457/380 IPC at PS Patel Nagar, Delhi and
investigation was taken up. A dedicated joint team of Special Staff and PS Patel Nagar
consisting of SI Yogender, ASI Rakesh, HC Yashpal, HC Yadram, Ct Adesh Tyagi, and
Ct Devender was constituted under the supervision of Inspr. Satendra Mohan I/C
Special staff, Central District, Delhi to defect a number of cases of burglaries reported
in the area.
During this exercise, on 20.11.09, a secret information was received that these
burglaries have been committed by a gang known as KALANDER gang headed by
Hashimuddin and Bhaya of Kathputli Colony. On this information, Hashimuddin was
arrested from his house at K-298 Gali no 6, Kathputli Colony, Shadipur Depot Delhi,
who disclosed the names of his gang member. At his instance the other gang members
namely Hasan @ Monu, Afroz @ Bihari and Md Ali @ Raju were arrested. They
disclosed that they woved target the closed houses. They further disclosed that they
used to break the locks and door by Sambal and one special tool known as Jugaad.
with their arrest, five cases of burglaries which were committed solved occurred in the
area of West Patel Nagar in the jurisdiction of P.S. Patel Nagar have been worked out.
All the gang members are residing in Kathputli Colony and entered the world of crime

to make a fast buck. Efforts are being made to arrest Bhaya who has sizable chunk of
stolen property in his possession. Further investigation is in progress
