Key
a) Indicates explosive gas atmospheres.
b) Indicates likelihood that explosive gas atmosphere is present when the equipment is operating.
c) Symbol for apparatus for use in explosive atmospheres. Internationally (including Canada), the symbol "Ex" is
used. In the U.S. only, the 2002 NEC requires the symbol "AEx" instead of "Ex". In Europe only, the symbol
"EEx" is used.
d) Indicates the method of protection(s) used to prevent ignition of the explosive gas atmospheres.
e) Indicates the ignition-related properties of the explosive gas atmospheres.
f)

Indicates the maximum surface temperature of the equipment under normal operating conditions.
