7. Looking back at your

preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full
product?

Front covers
Even though the magazines have got a completely different genre and are about

completely different topics there are some similarities and differences. These were
changes being made from post design reviews and what people said when they saw
the final product for the prelim task and they were changed to make my final music
magazine look better. I made the mast head smaller in terms of one word rather that
having three words dropping down from each other which took up a lot of space. This
also meant that I had more room to have a cover line below it which left more room for
the other cover lines at the bottom so I wasnt covering the face of the artists. This
mean that the audience can see the artists easy and see who will be focused on in the
magazine.
There are more cover lines on my music magazine than there are on the student
prelim task which is a convention that I have followed by having more than 5 cover
lines. This gives off little hints towards the contents of the magazine which is better if
you have more.
Date line/ issue number/ barcode and price are all on both front covers as they are a
requirement for audiences so that they can buy the magazine and see when it was
released if it is the latest release.

Contents Pages
My music magazine contents page has

changed a lot from my contents page for my

student magazine. This was because I didnt
like the way that it finished at the end. I
decided to have a colour fade back ground
which worked better as it didnt take the focus
away from being able to read the contents list
and look at the images. I have included a note
from the editor as I believe that it is a nice
touch as its a thank you message for having
gone and purchased the magazine.
