Spring Break 2016


Hi deers! (pun intended)Spring Break is from March 19-28th. During this time, you
will work on several different activities.
1. Reading - As usual, you will continue to read everyday. Make sure to keep record of what
books you read and when you read them. Dont forget to get a guardians signature.
(Reading the Social Studies pages, pg. 41-56, can be used for your Reading Log.)
2. Math packet
3. Missions - The rubric and directions are on the attached handout, as well as the class
website.
4. Typing.com - To work on typing skills, go to typing.com, sign-in, and work on typing
practice lessons. Keep record of your computer practice times and activities on your
Typing Log. Practice typing for at least 60 total minutes. You can split up the time you
spend practicing; you do NOT have to do it all at once. You MAY practice more than 60
minutes.
(Typing your Missions project can count towards the 40 minutes).

Extra Credit
For extra credit, you and your family can visit a mission and write a journal. The four closest
missions are Mission San Gabriel, Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana, Mission San Juan
Capistrano, and Mission Santa Barbara. During your visit, you can take notes, photos, and/or
videos of what you see and hear so that you can share what you learned during your trip.
After your trip, write a journal to answer the following prompt: Write about your trip. Include
information about which mission you went to, who you went with, 5 facts about the mission,
and how you enjoyed the trip.

Due Dates
The Reading log & Typing log are due by March 29th, 2016 (Tuesday).
The Math packet & Missions project are due by March 30th, 2016 (Wednesday).
