State Sen. Luke Kenley Recognized for Civility

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 26, 2016) State Sen. Luke Kenley (R-Noblesville) was presented
with a Civility in Government Award by the Association of Retired Members of the Indiana
General Assembly (ARMIGA), Monday, Jan. 25. Kenley was one of the first five honorees
to receive this award.

It is an honor to be recognized in this way by former members of the General

Assembly, Kenley said. This is a special group for whom I have great respect. I believe
conducting yourself with civility is essential to effective lawmaking and consensus
building, and I am grateful to the Association for this recognition as I strive toward that
end.

Kenley has served more than 20 years in the Indiana General Assembly and represents
Senate District 20, which includes portions of Hamilton County. Kenley chairs the Senate
Committee on Appropriations and plays a major role in drafting the states two-year
budget.

A nine-member selection committee comprised of former lawmakers, lobbyists and

members of the media worked together to identify those who embody politeness, good
communication and emotional control in every aspect of their legislative efforts. The
names of the award winners will be displayed on engraved plaques that will hang in the
hallways outside the Senate and House chambers.

ARMIGA is a group of former Indiana legislators who work together to recognize the good
work of current members.
