The students will be able to identify quantity of money in coins
The students will make connections with other students and solve problems
together
Procedure: (Instructional Activity)
Opening Activity: Teacher will gather students on the morning rug and form a
circle. The teacher will then give each student a card with a unique coin sum
represented in pictures. The teacher will have an example card in which they go
through what the activity will look like.
Developmental Activity: Each child will look at their own card and identify what
coin sum is present. After announcing and reading the I have portion, they will
then ask the class Who has?. Who ever has a match will than carry on and so
on until every student has spoken.
Closing Activity: Classroom teacher will discuss the importance of money and
how it is important to be able to put an amount/ name to a specific amount of
coins.
Materials Needed: Special cards (print outs)
Assessment Strategies: How will the teacher and students know if they have met the
objectives? Teachers will be able to assess students as the game is played. Since students
will have to say out loud the amount that their card represents, the teacher can make sure
that they are correctly adding the coins together. For students who are struggling, make
corrections and also give additional aid and practice.

UDL Evidence: 1.1, 2.1, 3.2, 5.1, 7.1, 7.2, 9.3.

Assignment or follow-up: After the class activity, students can further work on
manipulating coins and do additional work independently.

Game Instructions
There is a teacher answer key included that will show what the proper
sequence of the game should be.
To play the game, distribute the cards among the students involved.

The student with that first card (start) reads both the I have... and
Who has..? parts out loud. Then, the next student that has the card
that matches the "Who has..?" description that was read aloud will read
their "I have..." and "Who has..?" parts. The game is played until all
cards have been read (finish).

The game can be played as a center or as a class depending on class

size. Additionally, it can be played by a single student by spreading all
of the cards out and working their way through one by one.
