Social Coping: Friends and Groups «(Social Support - aid gained from interacting with others - has an enormous number of benefits for stress: + Oxytocin: when interactingwith others (physically or non-physically) our brains release oxytocin, which activates the parasympatheticsystem - Advice: sometimes, we don’t know the solution for problem-based coping, or if the solution even exists. Good Triends can give us advice and make sure that we are doing what we promised we would + Sharing work. we are often stressed because we cannot complete a goal (frustration): friends can help us achieve our goals. -(Donely people are more likely to be burnt out, depressed, to feel sick, to do poorly in school, than anyone else etc. + Ironically, research suggests that most university students believe that everybody but them has friends and is more social than them.
