PAKISTAN DAY IS ROUND THE CORNER

INVITATION FROM HIGH COMMISSIONER


The High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan will be holding a Flag Hoisting Ceremony on
23rd March, 2016 to mark the Pakistan Resolution Day. The ceremony will commence at 0900 hrs at the
High Commission Building (4 Perth Avenue, Yarralumla) . Its an open invitation event and all are
welcome to join in.

GROUP UPDATE
Rida Ahmed with Arisha, Georgia and Felix will attend the Pakistan Day dinner organized by the High
Commissioner of Pakistan in Canberra.
Maria Farooq, Shireen Qamar, Hina Arshee, Umneea Khan with Zarrin Siddiqui will attend the morning
tea arranged by the WA Police Commissioner, Carl O Callaghan this week for Multicultural community
leaders.
Another grant application has been submitted which means that we have now three applications in
waiting as the nation waits for the Federal election.

As we start the Easter break a Friday brunch is organised by PIA on 25th March to
welcome Dr. Junaid Sarfaraz, the Pro Vice chancellor of the University of Health
Sciences Pakistan. The venue is Caf Petrichor, 1/440 Williams Street.

BIKE WEEK 2016


Thanks to all who participated in Bike week and submitted photographs. At the Barbecue which
fortunately coincided with Pakistan and harmony day, Ghulam Mubasher Hassan organized the games
while Yasir took the responsibility of the prizes as Maria, Saad and other volunteers helped in BBQ so
thanks to all of you.

MULTICULTURAL QUEENSLAND ADVISORY COUNCIL NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN


Queenslanders are encouraged to nominate now as representatives on the new Multicultural
Queensland Advisory Council. The Council will advise the Minister for Multicultural Affairs on
how to support a unified, harmonious and inclusive Queensland. Nominations are encouraged
from people located throughout Queensland.
There are few restrictions on the kind of course you can take.

URGENT REQUEST FROM MELBOURNE!!! Volunteers needed
Its all about children. This year our sister organisation is going to support some stellar children causes,
which include: -- A clinic/hospital servicing disabled Syrian children -- A water well for a female
orphanage in Kenya -- Heart surgeries for children in Pakistan We are looking for volunteers for our
Basant festival stand. The theme is going to be fun for kids activities; face painting, lolly trees, cup cakes,
sausage sizzle etc. Come and be part of this awesome event!!! Please fill this form to help.
