Stage 2 Maths Applications

Stage 2 Maths Applications contains 4 main topics. The topics will be taught in
the order shown below.

Assessment
Assessment is composed of 40% Folio tasks, 30% Skills and Application
tasks and 30% External Exam.
All school based summative tasks will be marked according to specific
assessment criteria according to the appropriate performance standards

SATs
Skills and Application tasks will be in the form of closed book tests. During all
tests one single sided A4 hand written sheet of notes may be brought into the
test

Folio Tasks
Folio tasks will be in the form of a directed investigation that is to be completed
outside of class time.

Exam
The end of year exam will be on any two of the possible examined subjects.
Students may choose to answer the sections on Investments and Loans, Matrices
or Statistics. Applied Geometry is not an examined subject this year. The exam
will be two hours and students may bring one double sided A4 hand written
sheet of notes into the exam.

Graphics Calculators
Graphics calculators will be used throughout the course and are required for all
examined subjects. These may be purchased, or a limited number of older model
calculators will be available to borrow from the school.
