Holt is a diverse suburban district, in mid-Michigan, located just on the outskirts of Lansing. Approximately 5700 students attend Holt Public Schools. In this role, Elinor has taken on the planning and delivery of instruction in all core areas, Thave worked specifically with her with respect to the planning and instructing of mathematics. Here, I have found Elinor to be knowledgeable about mathematics and also interested in learning to create and implement lessons that are engaging for students and align with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. In addition to working with Elinor in a classroom setting, I have had the opportunity to observe and debrief with her with respect to her teaching and students’ learning. I was impressed with her classroom organization and student rapport. She is very natural and very respectful with her students and in turn, they model similar behavior. She has helped to create a positive environment, one that allows students to engage in lessons and feel safe in asking questions.
