NEOPLANTA
by Laslo Vegel
Director: Andras Urban
Novi Sad Theatre - Serbia

21h / Ves bule of St. Sophia Church

Neoplanta is a novel and a theatre play, a sort of postcard from hell, however, the epilogue
shows that this city, which every local na on names it in its own language, can a er all be the promised
land as every other.
According to Laslo Vegel and Andras Urban, Neoplanta is actually a permanent history of the
na onal con icts in which individuals rise and fall, seek for the truth and are deluded, live and die, kill and
have been killed, as unstoppable members, genders and species with an abyss between them.
Sooner or later we must face the fact that we are separated even from the best friends with a
chasm which cannot be skipped, says Vegel. In that Neoplanta or the Promised land, or the cursed land,
where a parade of loners prone to depression marches, a melancholic euphoria ,which is di erent for
everyone-for one the temperature suddenly rises and the blood boils, and for other the blood freezes.
I am marked and I carry the mark, irrespec ve of my own will.
Zlatko Pakovic
Andras Urban was born on 4 October 1970 in Senta. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in
Novi Sad with a BA in direc ng in the class of the Professors Vlatko Gilic and Bore Draskovic.
He is winner of many awards and acknowledgements among which The Special Award in
Budapest in 2010, The Special Award in Skopje in 2011 as well as many other awards for Best Direc ng and

OUR CLASS
By Tadeusz Slobodzianek
Director: Hanan Snir
Cameri Theatre and Habima Na onal Theatre
Tel Aviv, Israel

21h / Ves bule of St. Sophia church

" Our Class is a story of one class in a village in East Poland. . . A courageous point of view on
what has happened leaves the spectator breathless, shocked, and deeply moved, as he iden es with
what happens on stage. The ten wonderful actors and actresses thanks to the most sensi ve and
unique style of the playwright and the director have managed to do the impossible: make the spectator
love and understand everybody, those who lived this irra onal life brought on them by history.
Our Class deals with the complicated es between Poles and Jews during the Second World
War. The play is local and universal, a story that actually took place in the village of Jedwabne in Eastern
Poland, on the 10th of July, 1941, when the Polish Catholic neighbors broke into the homes of the Jews they
grew up with, forced them into the local barn and set on re 1600 Jews.
As much as the play is based on a local pogrom, it carries a universal message to every society
that does not accept the other, where children grow up in an environment of intolerance, racism, and
prejudices.
Hanan Snir graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts from Tel Aviv University and the Royal
Academy of Drama in London, where he also taught and directed. From 1990-1991 he worked as an
ar s c director of Habima Theater. In 1992-1993 he completed his MA in Counseling Psychology from
Boston University . He teaches theater at the Kibbutzim College and works as a director at Habima
Theatre. His works include classical drama, original Israeli drama, adapta ons of Amos Oz novels, and
modern interna onal drama. He is winner of Best Director of the Year and Best Produc on for An gone,
2008. He is nominated for Life Achievement award, 2015. Our Class is nominated for Best Produc on of

NO TRIFLING WITH LOVE

By Alfred de Musset
Director: So ja Ristevska
In mate Theatre- Bitola, Macedonia

21h / School yard of St. Clement of Ohrid

primary school

The play re ects the idea of today's neo-liberalism, which devours and destroys every human
e ort to live out of the matrix of the same. In today's world, constructed solely on the rules of the capital,
the man, unfortunately, doesn't have much alterna ves, but to subjugate and be in func on of money.
And when the capital is the basic parameter on which one's life is built and structured, then we come to a
conclusion that you can't actually joke with the capital, and that Love is colder than the capital itself.
In a society without solidarity and extreme nancial egoism, there is no place for love. Here we
juxtapose the love and the capital, and we place them in an arena where we analyze the results from this
confronta on. In a world of a consumer society, the love which once was alive and vital driving force has
become subject of constant examina on and it's massively manipulated on daily basis.
This play is a call for crea on of a more humane, more solidary and socially equal world, where the
individual will have the right of freedom and love, because ignoring these two categories may cost a lot!
So ja Ristevska
So a Ristevska has graduated theater direc ng from the Na onal Academy for Theatre and
Film "Krasto Sarafov" in So a, Bulgaria. So far she has directed over thirty plays in state and independent
theaters in Macedonia, Bulgaria and Serbia. In 2010, she founded her ''In mate Theatre'', where up ll now
she has produced and directed six plays by contemporary drama sts. Since 2013, the ''In mate Theatre''
has its own venue in Bitola, with a regular repertoire.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
by William Shakespeare
Director: Ana Djordjevic
Sombor Na onal Theatre, Serbia

21h / School yard of St. Clement of Ohrid

primary school

Shakespeare's laugh knows no evil, it's like a so rain that puri es the atmosphere, it
encourages and strengthens; his comedy is going from romping and joking, to mocking of stupid
misunderstandings or fana c perversion, from shrewd wi ness , to expression of life's joy and
admira on of the human beauty. That's the comedy that Haine describes as an enchanted garden where
you speak a language that is learned only in dreams or in early childhood- Have we nally discovered the
secret?
Hugo Klain
A er the wars, with the arrival of spring -nature and people awaken and everyone goes out on
the seashore. Love is born. Here a wedding should be saved, joining two genders in a union of love, a
mys que act of victory- harmony over chaos, the marriage ceremony as a symbol of triumph, the
integrity which is decomposed on male and female, on white and black, on mind and spirit, on body and
soul, le and right, the matrimony as a spiritual and emo onal gure- the moment when two people are
connected in a mutual acceptance.
Our play is constructed as a dream in which the mutual love should be saved- the marriage as
a spiritual and emo onal joining of people and the victory of harmony over chaos

THEATRE PLAY - PREMIERE

FRIDAY

ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA
by William Shakespeare
Director: John Blondell
NI Na onal Theatre of Bitola Macedonia

21h / Dolni Saraj

Shakespeare's great historical tragedy was wri en in 1606 the nal play of an astounding
quartet of tragedies, preceded by Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth. Many (including me) would consider
Antony and Cleopatra as Shakespeare's most di cult play, and his sublime ar s c achievement. It
stretches the limits of the stage to their breaking point, presents a sweep of ac on and situa ons which
are excep onal for Shakespeare's plays, and at the same me depicts characters that are incredibly
complex, richly nuanced, and constantly contradictory.
Antony and Cleopatra shows the intoxica ng e ects of Power and Desire, and chronicles the
seismic shi s that occurred in the biggest part of the civilized world in the last years of the nal
millennium BCE.
This produc on seeks to harness the play's turbulent power and to create waves of passion
that grow, swell and break over the audience.
John Blondell
John Blondell is Founding Ar s c Director of the Lit Moon Theatre Company, Director of the Lit
Moon World Theater Fes vals, and Chair and Professor of Theatre Arts at Westmont College, in Santa
Barbara, CA. John has directed over 60 produc ons, and produced another 60 for Lit Moon's various
interna onal fes vals. His outstanding directorial achievements include produc ons seen all around the

DIARY OF A MADMAN
By Nikolai Vasilevich Gogol
Music, scenography and director: Marjan Nechak
MMT- Moving Music Theatre- Bitola, Macedonia

21h / School yard of St. Clement of Ohrid

Primary school

Diary of a madman by N.V. Gogol is considered to be the rst detailed record of schizophrenia
even before it was recognized and named as a mental disorder in the medical prac ce. However, it
ques ons the whole world in which the individual tries to discover its iden ty and social status. Through
the story of Poprishchin, Gogol speaks of the society's disease in a lucid manner and he reminds us of our
con ict with the reality.
As the con icts between the East and the West, the le -wing and the right-wing, the religious
and the atheis c world are ge ng worse, everyone ghts for sanity and during this struggle he is
declared insane.
The spontaneity is a key segment to crea vity, and that's how this mono-opera happened. It contains
various music styles, and it s ll follows the path of a classical music work- the Opera at the beginning, an
Overture so it can quickly turn aside and become a Symphony of the mental, spiritual and emo onal
states of the protagonist. His inner cap vity, his inabili es and his semi interes ng sentences wri en by
Gogol, wouldn't have sounded that powerful and prodigious without the music score, despite the
successful ac ng performance. The music is like water, sailing across it, drinking from it and defending
from it whenever necessary, we are wrapped in a di erent acous c garment that we are not aware of.
Marjan Nechak
Marjan Nechak was born in 1976 in Bitola, Republic of Macedonia. He works with music from
his earliest childhood. He nished elementary and high school in Bitola (contrabass and solo singing)
composing even in that period.
He graduates Music Composi on at the Department of Performing Arts ESRA Paris- Skopje- New York.

OLD TIMES
by Harold Pinter
Director: Nela Vitosevic
NI Centre for Culture Grigor Prlicev- Na onal
Theatre- Ohrid, Macedonia

21h / NI Centre for Culture Grigor Prlicevopen stage

The winner of The Nobel Prize in Literature, Harold Pinter, known for his excep onally unique wri ng style,
o en called Pinterism by the cri cs, with his life and work represents a contemporary drama icon. In his works he
always refers to the past, as a key to the consequences and derangements which cannot be solved in his characters' lives
and faiths.
In his most famous text Old Times, which grants him a place on the world stage, we follow the personal
stories of the couple Deeley and Kate, whose sphere of ac on is jeopardized by Anna's arrival, a friend and roommate of
Kate with whom she shared the same room twenty years ago, while they were studying in London. Through evoking
memories shown in the characters' ow of thoughts, occasionally interrupted by dialogues, the author introduces us to
the story in which the destruc ve power of lust is the moving force of the ac on.
In this way the environment in the text becomes a ba le eld in which the characters ght for their territory,
possessions and control.
The order is violated at the very beginning of the play, for the spectator to wonder whether it is possible for
him to overcome the chaos caused by the powerful images of the past.
Nela Vitoshevikj was born in 1984 in Skopje, Macedonia. She completed her graduate and postgraduate
studies in Theatre Direc ng in the class of the Professor Slobodan Unkovski at the Faculty of Drama c Arts in Skopje,
where she is currently engaged as an Assistant Professor at the Department Of Ac ng.
Her BA nal exam show David Mamet's Sexual Perversity In Chicago was staged at the Drama Theatre,
Skopje where it con nued to play for the next couple of seasons. Her carrier further developed with the successful A
Straw in the Wind at the Macedonian Na onal Theatre and The Dragon`s Bride at VojdanChernodrinski Theatre, for
which she has won the most pres gious Na onal theatre awards: Best Direc ng Awardand Best Performance Award
at the Na onal Theatre Fes val Vojdan Chernodrinski in Prilep.
In 2009, together with the director VasilHristov, they established the independent alterna ve Wonderland
Theatre with the inten on to bring freshness, avant-garde, encourage the freedom of expression and bring to the stage
up-to-date current tendencies from the modern western theatre. They have produced several performances so far,

primary school

The director Petrinel Gocev signed yet another play which will take away the audience's breath.
This is a story about the encounter of two worlds- the world of a girl and the world of limits, steel shovels
and the law of force. It's a story about a girl with a di erent vision given by God, a girl that lives in a world
common to ours, but with a di erent satura on of experience, a world of angels, saints and aming death.
Today Joan of Arc is a saint, but what does that mean? Do we want that for ourselves? Do we want the
holiness for ourselves? Can I resist to a similar commandment, are the holiness and dedica on impera ve
for some cause? Does God arranges everything in the life of the common man and is there a common man
at all or we are all invited to reach a state of holiness.
The holiness is children's essen al condi on, we have discovered that even at the beginning of
this story- a child who plays mill and never daydreams, because he has a perfect life But suddenly
Petrinel Gochev
The energy that emerges from the stage as well as the achieved parallels describing how
things really happen in life, the satura on and the experiences are the trump cards of this play.
Petrinel Ljudmilov Gocev was born on 28 October 1968 in So a. He's not only a director, but a sculptor and
a scenographer. He nishes High School of Performing Arts. His biography counts over ten solo

which will be tradi onal and innova ve at the same me due to the employment of tradi onal
techniques (cra s) or forms inspired by the tradi on inden fying the Macedonian culture in a
modern context. Crea ng such products may encourage again the study of tradi onal cra s
which are dying out, but which proved their value over the me. There is nothing more speci c
than a unique design object customized only for you with the tradi onal cra techniques
which will produce a modern product with ar s c values. This product will nd its place in the
design world where the domineering products are those which are massively produced in an

The present and the past are put in a dialogue which results with a surprising story
and a unique design, items with soul and with stories that transmit and cause love and

DELIRIUM TREMENS
by Blagoja Risteski- Platnar

Poetry books, columns, cabaret texts, reviews, transla ons, plays- especially plays- his
correspondence which represents top epistolary literature, even the telegrams, in short, everything that
Platnar has wri en is lead by the principle: Just the best is good enough!
Sobria ebrietas- the sober drunkenness, at rst glance and in strict formal and logical sense is
a classic oxymoron, a contradic on in terms, nonsense. According to the logic law of the excluded third,
the law which unques oningly states either or, you can't be sober and drunk at the same me, either you
are drunk or you are sober! But, life is neither steered by the laws of logic, nor by the law of the excluded
third.
Life can give you sun and rain at the same me, and the soul can simultaneously be in a
witching hour and in a bright noon.
Without the risk of making a mistake, the whole life can be understood as an ecsta c
phenomenon, rapture explosion, a perpetual Delirium tremens!

ART EXHIBITION

TUESDAY

CYCLES
Krunislav Stojanovski
20h / NI Centre for Culture Grigor Prlicev
Large and small exhibi on hall

The tle of the exhibi on is Cycles, and the exhibi on actually depicts the seven pain ng
cycles that the ar st has painted throughout the last twenty years.
The tle is not only related to the ar st, but to the life of every individual. Life alone, for each
one of us, brings cycles which are discon nued, con nued, ripped, rhythmic, short, long of every kind,
they can depend on the moment, the surroundings, the personal experiences, the group experiences or
the climate, the temporal truth that we belong in. When life pours through art, then that art becomes
litmus of life, or metaphysical ECG gauge of the me that we live in, of our spiritual experiences which are
recorded and presented in a language readable only for the heart on a mental level, and much less on
ra onal and conscious level.
Krunislav Stojanovski was born on 14 May 1969 in Skopje. He graduated on the Department of
Pain ng from The Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (ALU). In 1997 he enrolls in the State School of Fine
Arts in the class of Professor Agnes Denes, on the Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg, Austria.
Since 1998 he works and specializes in Kaapeli in Helsinki, Finland. He has been a member of the Croa an
Associa on of Ar sts since 1997.
In the period from 1990 to 2001 he worked as a journalist in the eld of culture and engaged in
restora on of wall pain ngs.
From 1995 up un l now he ini ates and organizes di erent art projects of interna onal
character. He occupies himself with pain ng, ambient installa ons, photography, video and wri ng.
Frequent topics in his art are those which contain social, humanis c, ecological and poli cal
connota on with a special accent on the individual and his roles, opportuni es and signi cance in society.
He lives and works in Zagreb.

FIGURAE VENERIS HISTORIAE
By Goran Stefanovski
Director: Aleksandar Popovski
SNG Drama Ljubljana, Slovenia

21h / Dolni Saraj

Figurae Veneris Historiae could be named Love during war mes, because same as
violence, love can have many faces. And even though the war transforms the ero cism into pornography,
the survival ins nct doesn't only lead towards abuse and elimina on of enemies, but also towards a quest
for touch, in macy and warmth. The human being is torn between the both, especially when he is
mercilessly thrown between poli cs and history, which is the case in most of the plays by Stefanovski.
Here the poor human being is regarded with grim humour, which makes the transfer of sarcasm in the
world and human absurdity in it easier. The war is machinery, and people and their lost souls are its fuel.
The war is a collec ve des ny which isn't good for anyone, and the individual is powerless, yet his
decision for love holds the poten al peace possibili es.
Maybe the moment when we put on our military uniforms and head to the ba le eld is not far
away. But we shouldn't be afraid, because as the play states It's not true that the muses are silent during
the war-they are just sleepy.
Aleksandar Popovski is Macedonian theatre and lm director born in 1969 in Skopje. He
graduated from the University St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, R. Macedonia with a BA in Film and
Drama.
Popovski is one of the most genuine Macedonian directors, and he is considered a theatre star
around Europe, because of his crea ve and amusing, but at the same me very serious approach towards
the theatre which wins the hearts of the audience and cri cs around Europe.
Nowadays Popovski is not only valued in Macedonia, but he is interna onally appreciated
director and winner of many awards.
